Graduating Applied Arts students of Miriam College use visual design to shine light on various advocacies in a week-long exhibit entitled Emergence: Where Design Meets Advocacy.

“One of the things that I love about teaching is seeing my students grow in leaps and bounds; taking on advocacies that inspire them; using their talent to push for issues that they believe in; pushing their limits to realize and achieve what they thought was impossible; and growing up to be mature, sensitive and responsible designers.”

Rebecca P. Ramoso, Chief Product Designer of Quarkus

Emergence showcases the work of several project teams tasked to use different design aesthetics to promote their chosen advocacy via real-world products.

Some of the featured advocacies include women empowerment, promotion of local culture, environmental awareness, animal welfare, awareness on mental health and illnesses, body positivity, and general public service.

The exhibit aims to celebrate and highlight the importance of visual design to society; while also giving voice to causes that usually get lost in the saturated space of commercial marketing.

“I assure you – their products are amazing! They’ve tackled a wide range of advocacies, such as mental health, women empowerment, indigenous culture, and environmental protection, with much maturity and creativity.”
