As promised, History Con PH is back again this August 10-13, 2017 at the World Trade Center. It has attracted more than 80,000 visitors during its successful inaugural last year.
I was personally there during the 2016 kick off and it was soooo surreal I had tons of fun meeting some of the guest hosts and appreciating anything that’s history-based especially the exhibit of vintage items of yesteryear.
For this year, a combination of 13 exciting and remarkable History and FYI Channels personalities are in town to join the fun in what is dubbed as Manila’s biggest entertainment convention.
We the media got so starstruck with all of them during the press conference and for me personally, they are like ROCK Stars of History and FYI cable!
Don't get left out and head on to the WTC to see & meet the following upclose and personal:
Corey Harrison - Pawn Stars
Ryu Lim - Forged in Fire
Justin Mott - Photo Face Off
Jamie Dempsey - Ride N Seek
Danielle Colby - The Pickers
"Horny" Mike Henry - Counting Cars
Simon Yin - Hidden Cities Extreme
Phoemela Baranda - Celebrity Car Wars
Adam Liaw - FYI's Destination Flavours
Zack Giffin - Tiny House Nation
John Weisbarth - Tiny House Nation
Jordan Kilganon - Professional Dunker
Takeru Kobayashi - Professional Competitive Eater
Barry Wilmore - NASA Astronaut

It was sooo cool seeing Hidden Cities Extreme host, the very bubbly Simon Yin sporting a Barong Tagalog during his rounds at the exhibit halls and at the media conference proper. I spotted him rightaway together with Pawn Stars Corey Harrison visiting and appreciating some items at the vintage booths.
Representative of Celebrity Car Wars' Phoemela Baranda can't contain her excitement for Season Two of their show which was shot and taped in Subic, Bataan and Tarlac among others. With her in this show are fierce celebrity car drivers as mean as her behind the wheels.
:"It was tough and I felt the pressure being the only Filipina rep as I was up competing fellow celebs from Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand." she shares.
Did she crash a car in the process, I asked.
"Uhmm, it was more than one!" Phoem laughed off in recollection. "But good thing, our medics and their ambulance were on hand for any eventualities and probable injuries."
Phoem hopes that the winner of this season will have an all-star showdown for Season 3. If you recall, it was KC Montero who took home the crown during the debut season last year.
Japanese professional competitive eater Takeru Kobayashi is so cute and fun to talk to in person. With minimal known English, he is also excited to be in Manila to experience what's it like being at a History Con.. He flew in from New York, where he is based, together with his longtime work partner and lovely wife, Ms. Maggie.
I inquired from Takeru how is his bill of health? And he replied, "I'm okay and healthy." with a smile.
According to Ms. Maggie, Takeru is a health conscious type of guy who eats a lot of vegetables despite the fact what he's eating during competition (hotdogs, burgers, pizzas, pasta, ice cream and cheesesteaks, etc) are food high and sodium, fats and cholesterol.
She also disclosed that he used to be bigger and heavier before he got into the knack of eating competitively which he does until now that has brought him to many different places and cities around the globe.
Come and witness Takeru at his finest when he competes for a world record on most number of burgers (c/o Zark's) this Saturday August 12 and most number of (Shakey's) pizza and (Gerry's) sisig for Sunday August 13 at the History Con main stage.
Good luck Mr Tsunami!
Sporting a cool lime green hair, Canadian Jordan Kilganon has a very good height of 6"1 feet as a professional dunker for a good number of years now.
He was best notable for his viral dunks seen in You Tube and doing a scorpion dunk in jeans during a fourth quarter timeout of the 2016 NBA All-Star Game.
"I've never stopped training and improving for the past 10 years," he enthuses.
His parents named him after the great basketball legend Michael "Air" Jordan and I believe that could be a reason why Jordan is gifted with such incredible gift of jumping so high and dunking balls.
I was curious and asked him if he has sustained injuries along the way while dunking? Showing off both his palms, Jordan shared, "These used to bleed but thru the years, the traces are gone."
Professional dunking does have its rewards and with it, he was able to acquire a good place to stay and worry less on rents and other expenses.
"But what I'm most excited about is my personally designed dunking shoes!"
Good luck with that endeavor Jordan. Update us when it's going to be released. Safe dunking always!
If you want to see Jordan in awesome action, witness and be amazed by his Acro Dunk demo scheduled for August 12 at 2pm WTC basketball court and on August 13 at 3:30pm.
