Cherished Childhood Memories in PETA’s “Tagu-Taguan”

PETA has done it again! This time with their latest children’s musical play “Tagu Taguan Nasaan Ang Buwan?”

The press preview and technical dress rehearsal (TDR) was recently held at the PETA Theater Center attended by members of the press, students, teachers and some show buyers.

Child actor Albert Silos played the lead role of Popoy with Roi Calilong, Joan Bugcat, John Moran, Victor Robinson among many others during the preview.

There will be three alternating Popoy actors in Noel Comia Jr, Albert Silos and Omar Uddin. Comia recently won Best Actor in the concluded Cinemalaya 2017 Awards Night for his role in Kiko Boksingero. Congrats!

Written by J-mee Katanyag, Tagu-Taguan is a children’s musical about a young boy, Popoy, who tries to save his forgetful grandmother, Luna. He does this by looking for her stories that have been imprisoned in a dark realm of fear, guarded by the evil monster Papaw Halimaw.

With the curse of the evil Papaw Halimaw, it becomes Dilim-Dilim Land, an arid and hopeless place full of fear and restrictions. It is now up to Popoy, the young descendant of Lola Basyang, to save the world of stories and its characters with the use of his shining heart. Initially unaware of this, his Lola Luna helps him rediscover the forgotten world along with new found friends on his magical journey.

It is really a fascinating musical play thanks to the musical genius in Jeff Hernandez and there will be shadow plays as well and puppetry all rolled into one!

You will not expect the ending. NO spoilers at this point...

Highly-recommended to growing up kids and to folks young at heart.

The play also focuses on the importance of literature as well as reminds everyone remember our values and to connect with the people around us in today’s highly technological society.

The other cast include Joann Co, Marichu Belarmino-Cariño and Upeng Galang-Fernandez as Lola Luna and John Moran, Vien King and Eric dela Cruz playing Papaw Halimaw.

So don't miss out on this awesome children's production and secure your tickets now. They will be on a limited run only.

The Philippine Educational Theater Association’s “Tagu-taguan, Nasaan ang Buwan?” is directed by Dudz Teraña with music by Jeff Hernandez, costumes by Leeroy New. It runs Aug. 18-27 at Peta Phinma Theater, Peta Theater Center, Quezon City, and Sept. 1-3 at Star Theater, Star City.

Congrats to all our friends in PETA! Break a leg guys!
