Junction Hostels: The Only Hostel with 123 Lights at the Ground Floor

Junction Hostels, which is owned by Tajara Holdings, is situated in the heart of Makati Ave., where one could find solace amidst the hustle and bustle of the city. One of its owners is Cyndy Tan Jarabata, the president of the abovementioned company and a veteran of the hospitality industry. Some of their previous works include Hotel Celeste Makati, Mandala Spa and Villas Boracay, and Oakwood Premier Joy Nostalj Manila.

One of her consultants initially expressed discomfiture when she first expressed the idea. “Ma’am, gagawa kayo ng hostel eh ni hindi n’yo nga kayang mag-stay sa hostel?” But, she was not deterred and pushed through with the idea. The inauguration ceremony took place last Feb. 13, 2015. So far, they have received really high scores (8 stars and above out of 10) from reputable websites like Trip Advisor, Hostel World, and Agoda.

“The Truck” is the in-house snack bar of the hostel which also serves cocktails. Akin to the trailer of Negros Navigation, the whole metal structure had to be disassembled outside and reassembled like a Lego because it definitely wouldn’t have gone through a normal doorway. “Binaklas yang lahat,” said one of the managers. There’s a convection system in place so the kitchen staff wouldn’t have to endure an extraordinary amount of heat during a hot summer day. He further relayed that there was a time when someone rented out the area to hold a graduation party and there was a humongous beer tower.

As of writing, there are 111 beds available for occupancy. Thick but soft high-quality mattresses are used to ensure a good night’s sleep. Right now they have a PhP498 deal where you can spend a good night’s sleep in a coed 10-bed dorm for that price if you book for a minimum of two nights. They also offer a co-working space in the lobby for people who want to work out of their homes, meet new people, and enjoy free wi-fi as well as unlimited brewed coffee. A day pass costs PhP600 (8 hours), a half-day pass costs PhP400 (4 hours), and a weekly pass costs PhP1,800 (5 days). This includes the use of communal space such as the lounge and rest areas.
