PHILIPPINES – ABS-CBN’s commuter safety mobile app “PasaHero” bagged the Silver Tambuli for the Advocacy category and the Bronze Tambuli for the Mobile category in the recently held Asia-Pacific Tambuli Awards night.

The Tambuli awards mark “PasaHero’s” ninth and tenth recognition since it was first launched by ABS-CBN. It was also the only entry to get an award out of all the entries for mobile category.

The app, launched in November 2013, aims to help people who take public transportation to go around the metro, make them able to protect themselves at all times, and to notify other commuters and the user’s trusted circle of trip details and notifications.

“We’re very happy and honored to be recognized by different award-giving bodies for our public service efforts and commitment that help us to promote our product, our app,” Boggs Labayen, digital strategist of ABS-CBN’s “PasaHero” team said.

“Our main goal in developing the app was to help people during their commute, to protect them, and give them tools to protect themselves. As of now, we have 70,000 users. We are currently evolving the app and updating it to respond to the needs of the commuters as we plan to go beyond mobile applications and onto smart devices and the Internet,” he added.

The Asia-Pacific Tambuli Awards is the first and only global award that honors brands that deliver results and promote the social good-brands around the world that celebrate human truths, inspire purpose, and effect real change.

It is organized by the University of Asia and the Pacific’s (UA&P) School of Communication inspired by the school’s vision to develop whole-person leaders who take initiative in the benefit of numerous individuals and communities. The awards night was sponsored by ANC and ABS-CBN Sports + Action who also act as media partners.

The “PasaHero” app also garnered recognitions from the Philippine Quill Awards 2015, the 50th Anvil Awards, the Boomerang Awards, and the 2014 Spark Awards, among others.
