Not all singers and even rap group are given the chance to endorse top leading brands and lead out in advertising campaigns.
One lucky rap tropa, Ex Battalion or simply Ex B recently inked a contract deal with leading clothing brand RRJ (Rough Rider Jeans) and will soon see their faces up on giant billboards across the many highways of the city and countrysides.
A member recalls, “Noon problema namin ano isusuot. Pero ngayon meron na kaming sponsor thanks to RRJ and Ms. Ai Ai.”
Ex Battalion or Ex B shot to popularity and gained massive following because of their honest and catchy lyrics and their rhythmic beats.
Formed in 2012, the group is composed of rappers from the underground hip hop scene in Muntinlupa.
The 13 all-male rap group is now being managed by comedienne Ms. Ai Ai delas Alas who had the chance to work with the them during one of her solo shows a couple of years back.
"Nag rap pa nga ako di ba?" reminisced Ms. Ai.
From performing in barangay contests, they moved on to creating original songs and making viral music videos on YouTube. Their notable hit singles – now available on iTunes – are “Need You”, “Come With Me,” and their monster hit “Hayaan Mo Sila” (which has over 40 million views now on YouTube).
Their latest song, “South Boys,” released few days ago, already has 2.4 million views and counting.
"Hindi madaling mag-manage ng group like Ex B kasi iba iba mga ugali nila but pagdating sa pagkanta and rapping, ok na ok sila." proudly shares Ms. Ai.
If you recall, RRJ is a fashion lifestyle brand creating affordable, quality, and trend-setting wear for men and women.
RRJ Clothing is produced and distributed by Emerald Garments Manufacturing, Corp. Founded in 1969, the company is headquartered in Quezon City, Philippines. RRJ products are distributed on selected department stores and RRJ boutiques nationwide.
Top bosses were present during the contract signing and expressed that fans of Ex B better watch out for their meet and greets in malls and other campaigns in the coming months.
Congrats Ex Battalion and may you continue to inspire other groups to become great and as successful as you are with both feet still on the ground.
