Geodetic Engineering Student Conference 2022 [event]

“But despite the dimmed hope, there is a spark for genesis.”

The pandemic has brought challenges over the past two years with students needing to adjust from traditional face-to-face activities to makeshift online classes. Problems arise from the limitations of a virtual classroom, especially when students are needed to be immersed in a field activity, such as geodetic engineering students.

For its thirteenth year, the Geodetic Engineering Student Conference (GESC) is back with the theme “Genesis: Geodetic Engineering Towards The New Normal”. GESC is the biggest conference for geodetic engineering students from various parts of the country, first launched by the UP Geodetic Engineering Club in 2009. Through this annual event, GESC 2022 aims to be a “spark of genesis” for students and faculties to discuss breakthroughs, advancement, and other topics related to geodetic engineering which may be used to address the challenges faced by the current generation.

Since its inception, GESC gives a platform to present different endeavors from the UP Diliman Academe, the geodetic engineering practice, current practices of geodetic engineering companies, and even demonstrations related to the use of various instruments used in geodesy.

Not only will GESC 2022 feature professionals from the academe, government, entrepreneurship, and innovation, but for this year’s iteration, the GESC Quiz Show will also make its return after being excluded from the event since 2020. The GESC Quiz Show is a quiz competition held during the conduct of the conference that aims to promote awareness, interest, and understanding of the geodetic engineering field by challenging the skills of the participants in different fields of study in geodetic engineering.

GESC 2022 will introduce young aspirants to the exciting future that awaits them through various talks and demonstrations of invited guest speakers throughout the two-day event.

Cut through the darkness and spark a genesis. See you on April 8-9, 2022 via Zoom and Facebook Live.
