The current season of “The Voice Kids” is the most watched weekend program in the country right now, thanks to the new batch of young artists whose mind-blowing singing talent draws viewers on Saturdays and Sundays.
But this season also owes it success to the onscreen chemistry of coaches Lea Salonga, Bamboo, and Sharon Cuneta, whose funny antics and competitive banter keep the blind auditions enjoyable to watch.
Before the top-rating program serves up its last three episodes of blind auditions, here’s a look at ten of the most memorable lighthearted moments from the third season so far:
1. COACH SHARON’S 360-DEGREE TURN
The Megastar’s now famous 360-degree turn seemed like a baptism of fire for the new coach when she turned around for musical theater artist Noel. The turn, which happened on the show for the first time, threw the coach into a laughing fit.
2. “SECOND-RATE TRYING HARD COPY CAT”
The two female coaches ended up reenacting the famous scene in one of Sharon’s most popular movies, “Bituing Walang Ningning,” after coach Sharon kept echoing coach Lea’s remarks to woo young artist Eleana.
3. “I CARE ABOUT MY JOB”
To sway young artist Yohance to her side, coach Sharon hilariously rehashed a famous line from her movie “Caregiver.”
4. MATTHEW CHOOSES BAMBOO
Young heartthrob Matthew got coaches Lea and Sharon to turn around for him after singing One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful,” which meant he had to choose who between them he wanted as coach. It turned out he only had eyes for his idol Bamboo, and ultimately made everyone break into uncontrollable laughter.
5. LEA REVEALS REAL SCORE WITH AGA
It’s always fun to see coaches Lea and Sharon recall their rumored past loves. When young artist Althea said they can refer to her as AM, coach Sharon managed to bring up actor Aga Muhlach and teased coach Lea.
6. GABIE FROM SAN JUAN
Coach Sharon delivered the laughs by referencing a past heartbreak.
7. THE FORCE IS STRONG WITH FAMILEA
After young artist Aiken got a three-chair turn, coach Lea pulled a Star Wars-inspired stunt and brought out “FamiLea” artists Timmy Pavino, Nino Alejandro, and Philippe Go, who donned Jedi robes and lightsabers to show that “the force is strong” on her team.
8. RIDING ON THE “TATLONG BIBE” CRAZE
The trending Filipino nursery rhyme did not escape the top-rating reality show when young artist Hannah offered to teach them the dance moves. Even coach Bamboo, who attempted to use his charm to woo another young artist and three-chair turner Sharla, grooved to “Tatlong Bibe.”
9. “WURSH WURSH”
In yet another attempt to recruit an artist, coach Sharon boasted her repertoire of Filipino songs. She even teased coach Lea for her Broadway background and for speaking with an American accent, which coach Sharon referred to as “wursh wursh,” now a term repeatedly used in the program.
10. BIG HEART
Coach Sharon definitely loves poking fun at herself. Once, she told young artist Timoty to pick her as coach because she has a bigger body than coach Lea’s, and thus, a bigger heart.
After the three coaches complete their respective teams, epic vocal showdowns will come your way as the battle rounds begin on July 17 (Sunday). Watch your favorite young artists go head-to-head and see who will move on to the next round of the competition.
