4.48 – A Theatrical Exploration of Mental Health [event]

LOS BAÑOS, Philippines (Feb 2025) — The Molawin Stage is set to bring Sarah Kane’s 4.48 Psychosis to life in an intimate and thought-provoking Filipino production. Known for its raw, fragmented portrayal of mental illness, the play offers a deeply personal look into the mind of someone struggling with depression. The adaptation, translated by Margarette Anne C. Mediano, continues The Molawin Stage’s mission of pushing theatrical boundaries.

Featuring Althea Clabita and Friday Moratal, the performance weaves together poetic dissonance and haunting imagery to explore themes of despair, love, and fleeting moments of clarity. Audiences will experience an unconventional narrative that challenges traditional storytelling, making for an intense and immersive viewing.

The production will be staged at Sining Makiling Gallery in UPLB Freedom Park Upper Grounds, with performances scheduled for March 31, April 2, and April 4, 2025, at precisely 4:48 p.m. This exclusive, invite-only event ensures an intimate setting for a curated audience.

A thesis project by senior theatre students from the University of the Philippines Los Baños, The Molawin Stage is led by Ericson Narciso (production manager), Paulette Dela Paz (director), Zyrone Sarmiento (stage manager), and Althea Clabita (lead actor). Together, they aim to spark critical conversations on mental health, identity, and human fragility through bold and socially relevant storytelling.

For those invited, this is more than just a play—it’s an opportunity to witness the unfiltered depths of the human mind in a theatrical experience unlike any other.
