The Greatest Love -- A mother's heart never forgets

PHILIPPINES – Two months ago, netizens raved about ABS-CBN’s new family drama “The Greatest Love” with the release of its shocking, heart-rending teaser trailer with a plot twist: a mother suffering from sudden but profound memory loss that she is unable to recognize her own children fighting in front of her.

Now, the long wait is over. The series is finally coming to television on Monday (September 5) to pull viewers’ heartstrings as it tells an unforgettable story of a mother’s selfless love.

Seasoned actress Sylvia Sanchez plays Gloria, a dedicated mother who is filled with so much love for her children. She lives a happy, normal life with her family, until a big secret is unveiled that will break them apart. Things take a turn for the worst as she learns that she has Alzheimer’s disease, and is on the verge of forgetting every memory she has.

Aside from the heart-wrenching scenes in the series, here are six reasons why you should totally watch the teleserye:

1. It is not your typical ‘kilig’ series

Although we love our romance-themed series, this is not your average ‘love-team oriented’ show. Sure, it’s complete with drama, love, and tragedy, but it’s nothing you’ll expect. This show will expose raw and sensitive scenes that mirror real-life events, making it relatable to all its viewers.

2. It reminds us to show our loved ones that we love and appreciate them

Let’s admit it – sometimes we all forget to say thank you and I love you to our mothers. We’re all so caught up with our lives that we stop appreciating the small things and overlook the sacrifices that our loved ones have made for us. This show is a reminder that there’s no greater love than a mother’s love and we should cherish every moment with our family.

3. It is a unique interpretation of Alzheimer’s disease that affects families around the world

The show is an avenue for viewers to understand the struggles of having Alzheimer’s disease and how it affects the whole family.

The program’s trailer shows a series of flashbacks of Gloria with her family – all of them filled with joy and laughter. However, once she discovers that she has Alzheimer’s disease, her world starts to fall apart as she forgets, little by little, her precious memories – even her own children.

4. It stars Sylvia Sanchez in her first lead role

This project is a dream-come-true for Sylvia, who is known as one of the country’s best drama actresses.

In “The Greatest Love,” her performance as the protagonist Gloria shines, and truly encapsulates the true essence of what it’s like to be a mother and the sacrifices they make to provide the very best for her children.

5. It brings together the country’s most promising actors

A teleserye with a great story is nothing without a stellar cast.

The Kapamilya network’s most talented actors, namely Dimples Romana, Andi Eigenmann, Arron Villlaflor, Matt Evans, and Joshua Garcia will surely capture viewers’ hearts with their performances.

6. It is filled with unexpected surprises

What’s a Pinoy series without plot twists? This highly anticipated series is something to watch out for because it will keep you at the edge of your seats and leave you wanting for more as revelations come your way.

The program’s creative manager, legendary writer Ricky Lee, also dropped an exciting tidbit about the show’s back story. He said, “This is a story about second chances. We are all given second chances by life. This is a journey of a mother’s second chance at motherhood, as well as her second chance at her great love, even at her age.”

“The Greatest Love” airs Monday (Sept 5) in ABS-CBN’s Kapamilya Gold.
