MANILA, Philippines – ABS-CBN mobile, ABS-CBN Corporation’s mobile service has activated user access to 911 and 8888 in response to the government directive effectively assigning the two numbers as the official Philippine emergency hotline and citizen complaint hotline, respectively.

“ABS-CBN Corporation continues to be in the service of the Filipino as it helps ensure public safety and peace and order by activating access of our ABS-CBNmobile subscribers to the new Philippine emergency and citizen hotline numbers,” ABS-CBN Convergence chief operations officer Chinky Alcedo said.

Accessible 24/7 nationwide, the service allows users to reach 911 for concerns on peace and order as well as public safety. Meanwhile, as the government transitions to 911, calls to existing emergency hotline number 117 shall still be entertained but directed to the proper responders.

By calling 911, users can expect respondents from the Philippine National Police, the Bureau of Fire Protection, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, the National Bureau of Investigation, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (for Metro Manila) and other agencies such as the Department of Public Works and Highways, the Department of Health, the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the Philippine National Red Cross, volunteer NGOs, and other affiliated public safety volunteers, depending on the emergency situation.

Calling 8888 shall direct users to the Civil Service Commission and the Presidential Action Center Citizens Complaint Center.

Standard charges apply to calls to 911, 117 and 8888. Access to emergency response teams shall be available via voice call only.
