MANILA, Philippines (Apr 2026) — BYD did not just show up to the Manila International Auto Show this year. It drove across the entire country first to prove it could.
A convoy of 20 BYD vehicles completed a cross-country journey from the northernmost tip of Luzon to the southernmost point of Mindanao, visiting 102 cities along the way. The expedition, led by content creator Wil Dasovich as part of the “Drive Electric. Love Pinas.” campaign, resulted in two Guinness World Records: Most Cities Visited in a Continuous Journey by an EV, achieved by the BYD eMAX 7, and Most Cities Visited in a Continuous Journey by a PHEV, achieved by the BYD Shark 6 DMO.
The records were announced on April 9 at the opening of BYD’s exhibit at MIAS 2026 at the World Trade Center Metro Manila, where the brand is running its biggest booth to date through April 12.
“We are going beyond just selling cars. We are leading the movement that transforms how the country moves,” said Bob Palanca, Managing Director of BYD Cars Philippines.

Two new models making their Philippine preview
The MIAS booth includes a special preview of two vehicles set for full launch later this year.
The BYD Atto 2 EV is a compact urban electric crossover positioned as an everyday family vehicle, balancing practicality with a modern design. The BYD Sealion 7 is the more performance-oriented of the two — an all-electric SUV with an all-wheel drive system, an aerodynamic body, and a tech-forward cabin loaded with driver-assistance systems. Customers can reserve the Sealion 7 at MIAS or at any BYD dealership nationwide for PHP 50,000 (approx. $860) starting April 9.
The rest of the full BYD lineup is also on display, covering Battery Electric Vehicles including the Seagull, Atto 3, eMAX 7, and Tang EV, and the Super DM-i and DMO lineup including the Seal 5 DM-i, Sealion 5 DM-i, Sealion 6 DM-i, Tang DM-i, eMAX 9 DM-i, and Shark 6 DMO.
Alden Richards is now a BYD ambassador
BYD also used MIAS to introduce its newest brand ambassador: Alden Richards. The multimedia star joins the brand as part of its push to connect electric mobility with a wider Filipino audience.

MIAS deals and charging infrastructure
Visitors to the BYD Pavilion this weekend can take advantage of cash discounts of up to PHP 220,000 (approx. $3,786) on select models, including the Sealion 5 DM-i, Sealion 6 DM-i, Shark 6 DMO, and Tang DM-i. BPI exclusive financing promos are also available on select models. BYD-branded merchandise and accessories for the Seagull and Shark 6 DMO are available for purchase at the booth and at dealerships nationwide.
On the infrastructure side, ACMobility’s Philippine EV Spine network now covers over 160 charging locations nationwide, supported by 79 BYD dealers across the country.
“By expanding the Philippine EV Spine, we are eliminating range anxiety and fortifying the country’s readiness for EV adoption,” said Jaime Alfonso Zobel De Ayala, CEO of ACMobility.
The BYD Pavilion is open at the World Trade Center Metro Manila through April 12. More details at bydcarsphilippines.com.
