QUEZON CITY, Philippines (July 2026) — Satellite data now shows the real scale of the damage across Mindanao after Typhoon Inday drenched the region. The Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) released maps detailing flooded areas and damaged crops across five regions to help disaster response teams prioritize where to send help.
The maps cover Region 9, 10, 11, 12 and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). Using red to mark flooded zones, the data highlights specific threats to food security: pink areas represent affected rice fields, while brown shows other damaged crops.
Using space data for disaster response
By analyzing wide area coverage satellite data, PhilSA supports the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) in monitoring the situation. This technology allows government agencies to see the big picture and make informed decisions during emergencies.
Making this information accessible to stakeholders ensures that Pinoys on the ground get the support they need faster. PhilSA continues to monitor the enhanced monsoon effects to provide updated information for relief efforts.
Where to see the data
You can view the full satellite analysis and sample maps through the official PhilSA channels. Updates are also available through their social media links as they continue to track the situation in Mindanao.
