GENERAL SANTOS CITY, Philippines (Jul 2026) – Recovering from a natural disaster is tough enough without worrying about piled-up dirty clothes, which is why hundreds of families affected by the recent earthquake here just received a major helping hand. A special five-day community program brought free washing and drying services directly to the residents of Barangay Calumpang. From July 13 to 17, the local barangay hall in Purok Estrella turned into a makeshift community laundry hub.

Relieving the household burden

The initiative ended up helping 310 families who were struggling to maintain basic sanitation in the wake of the earthquake. In total, the relief stations processed around 2,544 kilograms of laundry, taking a heavy daily chore off the plates of residents who are currently focused on rebuilding their homes and lives.

The relief effort, dubbed Laundry Love, was put together through a partnership between LG Philippines and Imperial Appliance Plaza. The teams deployed commercial-grade washers and dryers in the shared public space so that affected Pinoys could clean their garments and linens without spending a single centavo.

By making modern washing and drying technologies easily accessible in times of crisis, the project aimed to provide immediate comfort and practical relief when the community needed it most.
