Fujitsu’s newest scanner is smaller than a tablet

PASIG, Philippines – Fujitsu launches the fi-800R compact high-speed A4 scanner designed for front office use. Its compact form factor and high speed enables digital transformation for SMEs.

“As the smallest image scanner in its class, the fi-800R is simply easy to operate,” said Paula Vicente, Product Manager, Fujitsu Imaging Products.

“(it is) the ideal scanner for limited workspaces like reception desks and service counters.”

It features several innovations such as Dual Path Mechanism. This enables the device to perform U-Turn Scan, where it automatically switches to the appropriate path depending on the location that documents are loaded. As a result, users get to scan a mixed batch of documents at once without any interruptions.

With this method, the fi-800R scans A4 documents continuously at a high speed of 40ppm/80ipm (color, 200dpi/300dpi).

With Return Scan, users can scan documents up to 5mm thick and complete start to finish in front of the scanner. Designed for reception use, it can easily scan identification documents such as thick plastic cards or passports, as well as folded documents – all without the need for a Carrier Sheet.

Documents are ejected from where they were originally scanned in from, for more efficient scanning.

Desktop users can operate the fi-800R using PaperStream IP and PaperStream Capture software, which comes with OCR features such as the ability to extract information such as passport number, name, and nationality from passports and ID cards.

Fujitsu fi-800R will be available in the Philippines starting December 2019. Fujitsu is looking to price the fi-800R at no more than PHP 50,000.
