PH’s First Sustainable Food App Advocates with UN FAO, World Food Day

In celebration of World Food Day this year, Feastsaver is holding a free virtual event for the Filipino youth on October 16th, 4PM-6PM via Zoom and Facebook live. With the title “Food Heroes Unite! For a Sustainable, Mindful, and Food Secure World,” the event is parallel to the theme of the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) of the United Nations: “Calling for action for better production, better nutrition, a better environment and a better life for all.”

Sharing the event agenda, speakers from different organizations including World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Philippines, FAO, Worth the Health, and Kids Who Farm will be presenting with the other notable guest speakers. They will be discussing the importance and aspects of food sustainability including proper food waste management, which is Feastsaver’s main advocacy.

The app’s co-founder Kim Veloso gathered a community of Filipino youth who share the same goals, and together, they advocate through activities that engage other Filipinos to become more aware of the pressing issue of food waste in the country and to involve them in innovative solutions including the Feastsaver app.

Thus, this event not only celebrates World Food Day, but also calls for the initiative of today’s youth who are empowered enough to unite for a sustainable, mindful, and food secure world.
