MANILA, Philippines – It was a jampacked press conference last night at 9501 Restaurant when ABS-CBN Kapamilya Network launched their newest feel-good family drama series “Dream Dad”. The latest teleserye welcomes the exciting Kapamilya couple — say hello to Zanjoe Marudo and child actress 5-year old Jana Agoncillo.
Dream Dad revolves around the story of Baste (Zanjoe), a hot bachelor who is trying to mend his broken heart by focusing on his family’s welfare and Baby (Jana) a young orphan who is searching for a family that will love and fully accept her.
If you remember the McDo commercial “Downton”, the very same cute long-haired girl there was portrayed by you guessed it… Jana! She is such a breath of fresh air and a very promising child actress in my opinion.
It took the production team four long months before finding the right child to portray the role of Baby and the effort was all worth it.Watching the trailer before presscon started, I must say both Zanjoe and Jana already have great screen chemistry.
The charismatic Zanjoe who also portrayed a dad in Anna Lisa is very excited in his follow-up “Dad” role. “I am very thankful to ABS-CBN for entrusting me again with this project. Jana is a joy to work it.” he shared.
Together with Zanjoe and Jana in “Dream Dad” are fellow Kapamilya Beauty Gonzales, Dante Ponce, Ketchup Eusebio, Yen Santos, Ana Feleo, Katya Santos, Atoy Ko, Ces Quesada, usual husband and wife tandem of Ariel Ureta and Ms. Gloria Diaz. This will be Maxene Magalona’s second comeback project with the network after spending many years with GMA-7.
“I feel blessed and thankful to be working with a great set of actors. We hangout and spend fun time on the set,” she enthuses. “I am more mature now and more focused,” Maxene adds.
When asked by the media if their dream dad is their actual biological fathers most of the cast said “Yes” but veteran radio and movie actor Ariel Ureta answered differently.
“My dad was the opposite. He was a “babaero”. I remember my mom feeling very bad about it. So now, I am doing my very best to be a Dream Dad to my own daughters.” Well-said sir!
Miss Universe aka Ms.Gloria Diaz summarizes it aptly that a “Dream Dad” must be a good provider, must spend proper quality time with family and must set good examples for his children.
“Dream Dad” is produced by the team behind the phenomenal romantic comedy series “Be Careful With My Heart” and the recently concluded primetime “Pure Love”.The production is not expecting this teleserye to last as long as Be Careful but will settle for the just right welcome from its ardent viewers.
For bubbly child wonder Jana, who is her “dream dad”? She quips “Si daddy Jason (biological dad) po at si daddy Zanjoe,” to the delight of the crowd.
