For All-Star basketball player Candace Parker, supermodel Karlie Kloss, tennis star Caroline Wozniacki, gym rat Hannah Bronfman and climber Sasha Digiulian, excelling at life is about taking things into your own hands and daring to “create”. Aside from being influential female role models in fitness and sports, all these athletes know how creativity at work is crucial to their own personal success. Just as they reshape traditional views on women in sports through creativity, so must we ladies in the Philippines. This is how the #adidasWomenFitSquad was born.
After a fun surfer yoga workout last May where raw food chef and surfer chick Mona Lisa Neuboeck taught other ladies some cool yoga surfer moves, adidas celebrated the rainy June month with a CrossFit session. In keeping with the #HereToCreate mantra, the June activity is meant to encourage ladies to persist and persevere. The rainy season must not stop women from reaching their fitness goals!
For this workout session, ladies were introduced to one intense workout led by adidas girl Rachelle Que-Love. At the Primal Ape Crossfit—the King Kong of boxes—ladies were grouped together and tasked to complete the Workout of the Day tailored for the adidas Women FitSquad. Teams of five were asked to compete with other teams and accumulate points based on the number of workouts each team completes.
Ladies were asked to do 100 sit-ups (modified, Crossfit version where the soles of the shoes are touching and the legs are splayed open), 100 burpees (where crossfitters stand straight, lower themselves into a squat positions, kick feet back into push-up position, drop chest and return back to the squat position and jump standing up), 100 box jumps (where crossfitters are made to jump up 12-inch high boxes), 100 wall balls (where heavy balls are thrown up to the wall), 100 Ground-to-Overheads (where weights are picked up over the head) and a 400-m rope run (where an entire team were tasked to run together). After completing all these, teams were given the option to accrue points by completing additional workouts.
Teams with the most number of points snagged brand new adidas backpacks.
