Ateneo research journals are now at the Quezon City Public Library — and anyone can read them

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (Apr. 2026) — Academic research doesn’t have to stay locked inside university walls. Ateneo de Manila University is proving that with its latest journal donation, and this time the beneficiary is right in the heart of QC.

In a turnover ceremony at the Quezon City Public Library, Ateneo handed over nearly a hundred copies of selected research journals, making them freely accessible to students, independent learners, local residents, and researchers who wouldn’t otherwise have access to university-level publications.

The collection draws from some of Ateneo’s most recognized journals: Perspectives in the Arts and Humanities, Budhi: A Journal of Ideas and Culture, Social Transformations: Journal of the Global South, Journal of Management for Global Sustainability, and Philippine Studies: Historical and Ethnographic Viewpoints. The titles cover a wide range of themes including Philippine history, culture, society, and interdisciplinary studies.

This is Ateneo’s second such effort, building on an earlier donation initiative that brought academic materials into public spaces. The Quezon City Public Library, known for its focus on inclusive and accessible education, was chosen as a fitting venue to bridge formal academic work with everyday community learning.

Representatives from both institutions emphasized the shared goal of fostering a culture of reading and informed public discourse — moving research outputs beyond the classroom and into spaces where more Pinoys can engage with them.
