VIRAL: Bangkarunungan video gains praise and admiration from students and teachers online


PHILIPPINES – A video featuring the accomplishments of public school teacher Adrian Cobardo has gained praise and admiration online.

The 3-minute clip produced by Mang Inasal recognizes the achievements and accomplishments of Filipinos who made exceptional contributions to society, earning them the title of “Gawad PiliPinoy.

Cobardo is the brains behind “Bangkarunungan”, a project that began in 2012 which aims to bring education to children living in the coastal areas of Zambales.

Bangkarunungan was inspired by “Kariton Classroom”, a project started by Efren Penaflorida back in 2009 which aims to bring education to street children. Penaflorida has since earned worldwide attention and recognition, including an award as CNN Hero of the Year.

In the video, Cobardo promised that he will keep working towards his goal of becoming the “best teacher in the world”.

Netizens expressed admiration, calling him a true Philippine hero:

Overwhelmed, fellow teachers expressed happiness and congratulated Cobardo.

I am a teacher by profession, taught for eight years but I had to change my occupation per advice of my doctor so I worked in another branch of the government until my retirement. Parents of his students also commented on the video, congratulating him and thanking him for his selflessness.

Inspired the words of praise, Cobardo promised that he will continue to work hard for the children and for the country.
