MANILA, Philippines – After two weeks of preparation, the Baron Geisler-Kiko Matos feud ended in a draw after two rounds in an MMA exhibition match organized by URCC Saturday evening.
Matos dominated the first round, pinning Geisler to the fence before eventually mounting him. The crowd grew wild, chanting “Baron” as Kiko repeatedly hit the former with some vicious ground and pound.
Geisler managed to recover in the second round, scoring some leg kicks before eventually catching Matos with some hard knees to the midsection while in a standing choke hold.
The two celebrities appeared winded after the second round, which was then stopped.
Judges scored the fight 19-19 – a draw for both contenders.
The feud started when Geisler and Matos had a physical altercation during a fund-raising event for political prisoner Maricon ‘Eedom’ Montajes at a bar in Quezon City. Weeks prior to the fight, the two engaged in a lot of physical and verbal exchange.
In one video, Baron Geisler can be seen kissing Kiko Matos before giving him the dirty finger. Matos later retaliated by spraying urine on Geisler during the weigh-ins.
The Geisler-Matos fight is a benefit event organized to raise the Php 2.1 million bail money needed for “Taysan 3”, a group consisting of Montajes, a UP film student, and two others, Rommiel Cañete and Ronilo Baes, a farmer.
With no clear winner this time, will there be a Baron Geisler vs Kiko Matos 2?
