Breaking: Duterte files COC for President

MANILA, Philippines – Through his representative, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte on Friday filed his certificate of candidacy for president in the 2016 elections after withdrawing his COC for re-election as mayor.

Lawyer Salvador Medialdea represented Duterte, who is currently in Davao, in filing his COC for president with the law department of the Commission in Elections (Comelec) in Manila.

The document was filed along with a certificate of nomination and acceptance from the Partido Demokratiko Pilipinas-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) signed by Duterte and the party’s vice president, Engr. Salvador Ty.

His daughter, former Mayor Sara Duterte will serve as his substitute who already submitted the document for substitution at Comelec Davao.

The most talked local official in social media replaced Martin Diño as the official standard bearer of PDP-Laban in the 2016 elections.

Diño withdrew his COC for president after the Comelec law department questioned his ability to launch a nationwide campaign.

Duterte has finally decided that Senator Allan Peter Cayetano will be his running mate but he is still on negotiations for a possible coalition with vice presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos.
