Caltex Fuel Your School bags Silver Anvil Award

MANILA, Philippines – Caltex Fuel Your School (CFYS) was yet again recognized for helping teach Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) subjects to 103,000 students and aiding 600 educators from the most-needy senior public high schools in Metro Manila.

Mere weeks after bagging first place at the Amcham CSR Excellence Awards, CFYS took home the Anvil Silver Award for Public Relations Program: Directed at Specific Stakeholders External Communities category during the 51st Anvil Awards held by the Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP).

CFYS is the local version of Chevron Corporation’s global social investment program to support and improve education by providing public school teachers with much needed teaching materials and equipment in STEM subjects, a timely support for Metro Manila’s highest need public high schools that will teach grades 11 students for the first time this school year. Chevron Philippines Inc. (CPI), marketer of the Caltex fuel and lubricants, fanned awareness about CFYS through the students’ natural affinity for social media.

The combined efforts of the project partners and the teacher/student beneficiaries amassed more than 6.1 million digital impressions, showing the success in spreading awareness of the project. Caltex Facebook page gained another 18,198 page likes increase, while CFYS project reaped an impressive 36,149 project likes.

PRSP and 51st Anvil Award Committee chairman Ronaldo Jabal said, “We are looking for programs that impacted a lot people in the community and in the organization as well. Caltex Fuel Your School has clearly demonstrated this goal making it a deserving awardee for the Silver Anvil Award.” Jabal also affirmed that Caltex FYS’ objective and impact to its beneficiaries and the society was a standout and that it enlivened the essence of corporate social responsibility.

Chevron Philippines Inc. is the marketer of the Caltex brand of fuels and lubricants. CPI is committed to contribute to the development of education in the country through its Energy for Learning program that supports educational program to provide learning and livelihood skill to disadvantaged people
