Cebu Pacific adds direct flights to Thailand, Japan

CEBU, Philppines – Cebu Pacific, a leading Philippine low-cost airline, has expanded its network with four new direct flight routes from Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA). The new destinations include Kansai (Japan), Don Mueang (Thailand), and domestic locations Masbate and San Vicente, increasing MCIA’s reach to 14 international and 27 local destinations.

The inaugural flights, each marked by a traditional water cannon salute, began with Don Mueang on October 2, followed by Kansai, San Vicente, and Masbate on October 15, 26, and 30, respectively. Cebu Pacific now operates three weekly flights to both Don Mueang and Masbate, and four weekly flights each to Kansai and San Vicente, giving travelers more access to popular and unique destinations.

Athanasios Titonis, CEO of Aboitiz InfraCapital GMCAC, highlighted MCIA’s goal of becoming a major international gateway, noting that these routes strengthen Cebu’s connectivity. Cebu Connect, a newly launched MCIA service, aims to ensure quick and efficient transfers, benefiting travelers with reduced layover times and streamlined flight connections. Xander Lao, Cebu Pacific’s President and Chief Commercial Officer, emphasized the airline’s commitment to expanding its network from Cebu, adding that these new routes meet growing travel demand.

MCIA’s new routes align with Cebu Pacific’s strategy to provide greater connectivity to key international destinations, reinforcing Cebu’s appeal as a top travel hub.
