SINGAPORE (Apr 2025) — More than seven in 10 cybersecurity professionals in the Asia Pacific region now see “Cyber Immunity” as a promising strategy to counter cyberattacks, according to new research presented by Kaspersky at GITEX Asia 2025.
The findings, based on a global survey of 850 cybersecurity experts, show growing support for secure-by-design systems, especially as cyberthreats become more sophisticated. Kaspersky’s report highlights a significant shift away from traditional vulnerability-prone IT systems toward integrated, resilient digital environments.
Cyber Immunity, a concept defined by Kaspersky, refers to IT and OT systems that are secure at the core—developed using specific methodologies and architectures that resist cyberattacks by design. In the Asia Pacific, 84% of experts surveyed said they were familiar with the term, closely mirroring global awareness levels at 85%. Among those aware of the concept, 71% in APAC believe Cyber Immunity can effectively reduce the ability of attackers to breach systems.
Regionally, cybersecurity professionals identified three key benefits: 28% said Cyber Immunity could cut down the frequency of cyberattacks, 36% said it would lessen the damage caused, while 35% believe it could do both.
These insights reflect the rising demand among businesses to move away from external add-on protections and instead build infrastructure that is resilient by default. Kaspersky Managing Director for Asia Pacific Adrian Hia said the response validates the company’s long-standing push for secure-by-design platforms.
“As Asia Pacific continues integrating AI and other advanced technologies, Cyber Immunity is becoming essential in future-proofing security strategies,” Hia said in a press release sent to our editors.
To meet this demand, Kaspersky is expanding the scope of its KasperskyOS. Originally intended for embedded systems in high-security industries, the operating system is now positioned as a general-purpose platform. The company says this evolution enables customers to build directly on a secure foundation, rather than layering security on top of vulnerable systems.
“We’re seeing a clear trend: organizations want more than tools that just detect and patch threats. They want systems that are built to withstand them from the start,” said Dmitry Lukiyan, Head of the KasperskyOS Business Unit.
KasperskyOS will be featured in-depth at the upcoming Kaspersky Cyber Immunity Conference, happening April 24 during GITEX Asia. The event includes discussions on IT and OT convergence, threat trends, and the evolving cybersecurity landscape leading into 2025.
