DMCI’s Isidro Consunji honored with AIM doctorate for leadership and innovation


MAKATI CITY, Philippines – Dr. Isidro A. Consunji, Chairman and President of DMCI Holdings, Inc., was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Management by the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) during its December 8, 2024, graduation ceremony at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City. This distinction highlights Dr. Consunji’s outstanding contributions to Philippine business and society.

Dr. Consunji has transformed DMCI from a construction-focused firm into one of the country’s most prominent conglomerates, with interests spanning construction, mining, energy, and real estate. Under his leadership, DMCI achieved a market capitalization of ₱240 billion, securing its place as a blue-chip company.

In his speech, Dr. Consunji reflected on the critical role AIM played in shaping his career. “AIM gave me the tools to think beyond operations, equipping me with the confidence to make decisions that would change the course of my career,” he said. He credited the Institute as the cornerstone of his personal and professional growth.

Known for his innovative and forward-thinking leadership, Dr. Consunji emphasized that success is built on teamwork, hard work, and good values. He urged AIM’s graduating class of 2024 to step out of their comfort zones, embrace challenges, and use business as a tool to drive meaningful change.

Beyond corporate success, Dr. Consunji is a staunch advocate for sustainability and corporate social responsibility. Under his stewardship, DMCI has spearheaded initiatives in affordable housing, eco-friendly construction, disaster relief, and infrastructure development, reflecting his dedication to nation-building.

Dr. Consunji’s accolades include being named Management Man of the Year by the Management Association of the Philippines in 2022 and receiving Asia’s Best CEO awards in 2023 and 2024. AIM President and Dean Jikyeong Kang praised him as a role model for future leaders, noting his resilience, foresight, and transformative influence on Philippine business.

The Honorary Degree underscores Dr. Consunji’s legacy of leadership, excellence, and commitment to creating a thriving economy and a better society. It also reaffirms AIM’s mission to develop leaders who can make meaningful impacts on their communities and beyond.
