MANILA, Philippines (Mar 2026) — Two of the biggest financing deals in the Philippines last year had EastWest Bank behind them, and the bank just picked up regional recognition for both.
EastWest secured multiple citations at the 19th Annual Alpha Southeast Asia Best Deal and Solution Awards 2025, one of Southeast Asia’s most recognized capital markets awards programs. The wins are tied to its roles in the Maynilad Water Services IPO and a major SM Prime Holdings bond offering.
The Maynilad IPO raised PHP 34.3 billion (approx. $590 million), making it the second largest IPO in Philippine history. It took home two awards: Best IPO for Retail Investors in Asia 2025 and Best Equity/IPO Deal of the Year in the Philippines 2025. EastWest served as Domestic Participating Underwriter, focusing specifically on broadening retail investor participation through its branch network and relationships with emerging affluent clients. The bank contributed investor education efforts alongside the institutional side of the offering, helping build a more inclusive investor base.
For the SM Prime Holdings deal, EastWest served as Joint Lead Underwriter and Joint Bookrunner for a PHP 17 billion (approx. $293 million) fixed-rate bond tranche, part of SM Prime’s larger PHP 42 billion (approx. $722 million) multi-tranche issuance for 2025. That offering won Best Local Currency Bond in the Philippines 2025 and helped SM Prime lock in long-term funding for its development pipeline nationwide.
