MANILA, Philippines — The Energy Efficiency and Conservation (EEC) Act, or Republic Act (RA) 11285, has proven crucial in helping industries achieve energy efficiency and savings while supporting the Philippines’ economic goals.

Retail electricity suppliers (RES) like AdventEnergy Inc. (AEI), a subsidiary of Aboitiz Power, have been instrumental in implementing the Department of Energy’s (DOE) energy-saving measures under the EEC Act. These efforts have contributed to PHP364 million in cost savings in the first quarter of 2024 alone.

Under the EEC Act, businesses in the Commercial, Industrial, and Transport (CIT) sectors are required to submit energy efficiency reports, ensuring adherence to conservation practices.

AEI’s hybrid energy solutions not only enable clients to meet these regulatory requirements but also protect equipment and optimize operations. Engr. Gina Lyn David-Camacho, Aboitiz Power’s Vice President for Retail Energy Sales and Solutions, emphasized the importance of energy efficiency. “Stability is one of the key things we are helping establishments and industries achieve,” she said. “We reassess their energy consumption to ensure optimal operations for the remaining year and better planning for the next.”

AEI provides two types of energy audits tailored to clients’ needs. A preliminary audit identifies immediate cost-saving opportunities, while a more comprehensive assessment examines energy consumption and offers actionable recommendations for significant returns on investment.

Aboitiz Power First Vice President James Yu highlighted AEI’s commitment to innovation and customer education. “I believe that retailers are continuing to step up,” Yu said. “We are now catering to more customers over time and it is our responsibility to deliver our promises to customers which include competitive electricity rates, and sustainability and reliability of their power sources.”

With its efforts supporting over 500 businesses nationwide, AEI has been pivotal in achieving the DOE’s energy-saving milestones.

Looking ahead, the DOE and AEI encourage businesses to view energy conservation as a national way of life, ensuring long-term benefits for both the economy and the environment.
