PHILIPPINES – Enrique Gil goes through heartbreak, mistaken identity, and a whole lot of misadventures in Thailand in his big comeback movie “I Am Not Big Bird,” showing exclusively in cinemas beginning February 14 (Wednesday).
“I’m super proud of our film. I just really want to make people laugh and I think it’s the perfect time to come back, especially with a film like this,’ shared Enrique in his Kapamilya Chat interview.
He stars as Luis Carpio, who is on a ‘big’ mission in Bangkok with friends after a heartbreak, only to face mishaps after he is mistaken as the famous Thai adult video star called ‘Big Bird.’
The Kapamilya actor said accepting the raunchy comedy project was a no-brainer because it was something that he just had to do.
“I am a huge fan of comedy films, those 90s, early 2000s comedies, some of the US comedies, na hindi ko talaga nakikita na o napapanood. To be able to do a film like this here in the Philippines, I just had to do it,” he said.
Set in the 90s, the hilarious barkada flick also stars Pepe Herrera, Nikko Natividad, and Red Ollero.
“Dito mo makikita, it’s not about manhood or having a chick, it’s really about keeping your friends,” shared one of the film’s writers, Lilit Reyes, during The Big Media Conference.
“It’s more of a self-discovery along with rediscovering friendship na mga nakalimutan mo na. Para siyang pagtanda at pag-develop ng isang lalaki during that time sa mga na-experience niya sa Thailand,” said co-writer Joma Labayen.
Directed by Victor Villanueva, “I Am Not Big Bird,” is a production of Black Sheep, Anima Studios, and Immerse Entertainment.
