Epson and Haribon Join Forces to Protect Manila Bay’s Wetlands

MANILA, Philippines (Mar 2025) — Epson Philippines, in partnership with the Haribon Foundation, led a coastal cleanup at the Las Piñas-Parañaque Wetland Park, tackling waste pollution in one of Manila Bay’s last remaining mangrove refuges.

The initiative brought together volunteers from both organizations, who collected 133 sacks of waste, totaling 697 kilograms. The debris included Styrofoam, plastic bottles, rubber materials, and other pollutants threatening the park’s biodiversity. Home to over 54 bird species, the 175-hectare protected area plays a crucial role in maintaining Manila Bay’s ecological balance.

“At Epson, sustainability is a responsibility we take seriously,” said Masako Kusama, President and Director of Epson Philippines. “Through this cleanup, we’re not only protecting the environment but also encouraging others to take action for a better future.”

Haribon Foundation, a leading environmental organization in the Philippines, provided technical guidance, cleanup materials, and site management support. The collaboration aligned with Epson’s commitment to employee engagement and sustainable practices.

“This event directly addresses one of today’s most urgent environmental challenges,” Kusama added. “By working with Haribon, we ensure our efforts create lasting change while inspiring our employees to actively participate in conservation.”

Epson has long integrated sustainability into its operations, from waste reduction to eco-friendly technology innovations. The company continues to promote conservation efforts, reinforcing its role in protecting the country’s natural resources.
