CLARK, Philippines (Mar 2025) — Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is revving up excitement for Filipino motorsports enthusiasts with the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Academy Philippines (TGRA). The academy recently held a session at Clark International Speedway, giving aspiring racers the chance to experience high-speed thrills while learning the fundamentals of racing.
Participants began with an in-depth orientation on racing etiquette, car control techniques, and track braking points. The hands-on portion followed, where students tested their skills through a slalom challenge and a “follow the leader” track activity, which allowed them to experience the speedway’s straights and corners firsthand.
The event attracted both motorsport fans and first-time racers. “I race go-karts, so I wanted to see how it compares to a real car. It’s similar but different—the car is bigger, and honestly, it’s even more fun,” said Karis Alexandra Santos.
For Nemuel Obas, who has long been fascinated by cars, the TGRA was a dream come true. “Since I was a kid, I loved watching races and learning about the mechanics of cars. When I saw the opportunity, I immediately signed up.”
The academy also welcomed diversity into motorsports. “As a woman in racing, I want to break barriers in this male-dominated sport. TGRA is the perfect place to make that happen,” shared Ella Nicole Bornilla.
TMP Assistant Vice President for Marketing Services Andy Ty emphasized the academy’s goal: “The TGRA is our way of making motorsports more accessible to Filipinos. We’ll have more sessions this year, so we encourage everyone to join.”
Founded in 2014, the TGRA has produced graduates who have gone on to compete in professional racing, including the TGR Philippine Cup. Fans can catch the first race weekend of the TGR Philippine Cup this Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Clark International Speedway. Admission is free.
