Broadcast journalist Karen Davila shows how a former drug addict and alcoholic overcame his substance abuse to build a successful pastillas business and provide for his family in “My Puhunan” this Wednesday (July 9).
After his father died, Aying stopped going to school to help his mother prepare pastillas products. Unfortunately, Aying spent the money he earned from it on illegal drugs and alcohol.
After his first child died, Aying came to his senses and finally got off drugs. Using the money his wife, who worked in Taiwan then, sent him, Aying turned to making and selling pastillas. His milk candies sold so well that his wife stopped working overseas and came back home. Now he sends all his children to a prestigious college, a dream come true for Aying.
