GAC launches its most powerful electric lineup yet at MIAS 2026 — and the GS8 HEV is just the start

MANILA, Philippines (Apr. 2026) — GAC Philippines just made its biggest statement yet on Philippine soil, and it came with seven models, introductory pricing, and a hybrid SUV that could shake up the premium segment.

At the 2026 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), GAC International Philippines officially launched the GS8 HEV — its flagship hybrid SUV — while also previewing the E8 HEV MPV and unveiling pricing for the GN8 PHEV luxury van. The brand also brought along the recently launched HYPTEC HT and AION V electric SUVs, plus the returning 2026 EMZOOM subcompact crossover.

GS8 HEV: The headliner

The GS8 HEV carries an introductory price of PHP 2,338,000 (approx. $40,300), down from its SRP of PHP 2,488,000 (approx. $42,900), valid until May 31, 2026.

It runs on GAC’s 2.0T Mega Wave Powertrain paired with Toyota’s 4th Generation Hybrid System (THS II), putting out 140 kW and 320 Nm of torque. An intelligent E-Four 4WD system handles the terrain side of things, with Eco, Comfort, Sport, and Off-road driving modes available. Power delivery goes through an E-CVT transmission for a smooth, quiet ride whether the system is running on electric or gasoline.

The exterior follows GAC’s “Star Diamond” design language — square-edged silhouette, “Victory” chrome grille, “Eye of the Conqueror” LED headlamps, 20-inch alloy wheels, and “Ruby Diamond” taillights. Inside, it seats seven in a 2-3-2 layout with premium leather and diamond stitching throughout. Front seats are power-adjustable with memory and ventilation functions; the third row folds electronically for added cargo flexibility. A panoramic sunroof and three-zone climate control round out the cabin.

Tech-wise, the GS8 HEV gets a 14.6-inch HD touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10-speaker Alpine audio system, wireless charging, and a 540-degree holographic surround-view camera with transparent chassis view. Safety kit includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, seven airbags (including a driver’s knee airbag), and a high-strength steel chassis.

GN8 PHEV: Executive travel, plug-in power

The GN8 PHEV enters the market at an introductory price of PHP 3,238,000 (approx. $55,800), against an SRP of PHP 3,388,000 (approx. $58,400).

This seven-seater luxury MPV stretches 5.2 meters and packs a 2.0L plug-in hybrid powertrain with over 240 hp. Combined range reaches up to 1,038 km, with 106 km of pure electric driving available for city use. It fast-charges to 80% in around 45 minutes.

The interior reads more executive lounge than family van — second-row captain’s chairs with heating, ventilation, and massage functions, a PM2.5 air filtration system with an integrated fragrance system, and a Yamaha premium sound setup. A 12.3-inch digital cluster and Level 2 ADAS complete the package.

Coming soon: The E8 HEV

Also previewed at MIAS is the E8 HEV, a seven-seater mid-size MPV with a combined range of up to 1,200 km. It features a 14.6-inch touchscreen, second-row seats with ventilation and massage, and up to 1,917L of cargo space. Fast charging from 30% to 80% takes about 30 minutes. Pricing and full specs are still to be announced.

The rest of the lineup

The HYPTEC HT luxury electric SUV starts at an introductory PHP 2,160,000 (approx. $37,200) for the Elite variant and PHP 2,480,000 (approx. $42,700) for Premium, with SRPs at PHP 2,260,000 (approx. $38,900) and PHP 2,580,000 (approx. $44,500) respectively. It offers 600+ km of range, dual-stage electric gullwing doors, Nappa leather interiors, and ultra-fast charging from 10% to 70% in 15 minutes.

The AION V mid-size electric SUV is priced from PHP 1,418,000 (approx. $24,400) for the Premium variant and PHP 1,598,000 (approx. $27,500) for Ultra — introductory prices valid through May 31. The EMZOOM subcompact crossover remains in the lineup with three variants ranging from PHP 1,089,900 to PHP 1,289,900 (approx. $18,800 to $22,200).

Attendees at MIAS can also test drive the GAC M6 Pro, EMZOOM, AION V, and EMKOO Hybrid at the GAC booth.

MIAS deal and warranty terms

From April 9 to 12 at MIAS, GAC is offering additional cash discounts of up to PHP 20,000 (approx. $345) on select models through its official bank partner, BPI.

All GAC vehicles come with a 5-year or 150,000 km warranty for fuel models, and an 8-year or 160,000 km warranty for EVs, plus two years of free roadside assistance.
