Singapore, Singapore (Apr 2026) — A familiar battle royale just got a deep-sea twist as Free Fire rolls out its first-ever ocean-themed update, bringing underwater exploration, new mechanics, and fresh rewards into the mix.
Dubbed “Undersea Mystery,” the limited-time campaign transforms core gameplay with aquatic elements that change how players move, loot, and fight. From whirlpools that pull players into hidden areas to fishing spots that grant buffs, the update leans heavily into an immersive underwater experience.
A map that changes how you play
One of the biggest changes is the introduction of the Undersea Realm, a new area accessible through whirlpools found in Battle Royale matches. These serve as entry points to a submerged zone filled with high-tier loot and new environmental challenges.
The traditional Blue Zone has also been replaced by a Hydro Zone, which adds a visual and strategic shift to matches. Players can now find better gear in submerged areas, while features like Bubble Airdrops and a redesigned Whale Airplane reinforce the ocean theme.
Fishing Ponds scattered across maps offer additional rewards and buffs, giving players more reasons to explore instead of rushing straight into combat.
Clash Squad mode also gets a themed refresh, including new spawn points and Cyber Airdrops that align with the underwater setting.
New weapon and character shake up combat
A new event-exclusive weapon called the Hydro Blaster introduces a different firing style, adding variety to combat in both Battle Royale and Clash Squad modes.
The update also introduces Ray, a character built for aggressive players. His ability marks enemies on hit and creates a link that can instantly knock them down once their health drops to a certain level. Successfully triggering the ability restores Ray’s HP and resets his skill cooldown, rewarding high-risk plays.
Rewards, cosmetics, and progression
Beyond gameplay, players can unlock a range of ocean-themed cosmetics. These include animated character bundles with ripple effects, marine-inspired weapon skins, and evolving rewards that change appearance over time.
Notable items include themed headgear, vehicle skins, and a multi-stage skydive animation that mimics swimming motions mid-air.
A new Login Streak system also makes its debut, featuring mascot Pyro. Daily logins build streaks that unlock progressively better rewards, encouraging consistent play.
Limited-time event with more to discover
Players can access a dedicated event interface where they complete missions, collect tokens, and summon sea creatures. Rare encounters offer bonus rewards, and completing enough summons unlocks a special themed emote.
