MANDALUYONG CITY, Philippines – After celebrating its golden anniversary, Gatorade is now all set to pave the way for another 50 strong years. Last October 22 at the Gatorade Hoops Center in Mandaluyong, Gatorade officially launched their newest orange-and-grapefruit-flavor based variant, the White Lightning, along with the introduction of their powerhouse line-up of ambassadors – UAAP volleyball superstars Alyssa Valdez from the Ateneo Lady Eagles and Mika Reyes from the De La Salle Lady Spikers, together with basketball hotshots Chris Banchero of the Alaska Aces and Jeron Teng of the De La Salle Green Archers.
“Coming from our 50th anniversary wherein we celebrated Gatorade’s legacy of fueling local and international sports’ greatest moments, we now want to focus on empowering a new breed of athletes and game changers,” Mr.Tony Atayde said. “Alyssa, Mika, Chris and Jeron are top athletes who know the value of working hard to stay in peak form and understand that games aren’t won in the court but in the gym and practice venues. We’re excited to see them inspire more people to pursue active lifestyles and understand the value of proper hydration.”
Gatorade prepared a line up of activities for the media people and sports enthusiasts who were present during the launch. The guests were divided into teams, each lead by the 3 ambassadors. The teams took turns in the circuit training stations which surely tested the participants’ strength, stamina, endurance and agility. Coaches from the 360 Fitness Club where present to assist in each activity.
Gatorade believes that greatness begins with hard work. You have to ache and sweat – no shortcuts. Whether preparing for a marathon, a climb to a mountain peak, a sports tournament or you simply just want to feel physically stronger, sweating yourself out in the gym or in the field and constant practice or training is the key to winning. And when you’re engaged in this kind of hard work, proper hydration is crucial, so you can push forward and grow stronger.
Atayde added, “You don’t have to be a pro athlete to benefit from proper hydration. For as long as you move and you sweat, your body needs to be properly hydrated so you continue to work towards achieving your full potential. We’re confident that our new variant and our new ambassadors will help us reinforce that message.”
