PHILIPPINES – The UP Geodetic Engineering Club was founded in 1937, some time after the establishment of the UP Department of Geodetic Engineering. Through the years, the organization has played a major role in the university, treating everyone not just as students thrown together by the same degree program, but as members of one family, always ready to support each other through the rigors of engineering life.
The Geodetic Engineering Student Conference (GESC) was first launched by UP Geodetic Engineering Club in 2009. It is an annual gathering of Geodetic Engineering Students originating from various parts of the country. Its primary purpose is to provide an avenue for students and faculties to discuss breakthroughs, advancement, and other topics related to Geodetic Engineering which may be used to address the challenges faced by the current generation.
Since 2009, the Geodetic Engineering Student Conference showcased different endeavors from the UP Diliman Academe, the Geodetic Engineering Practice, current practices of Geodetic Engineering Companies, and even demonstrations related to the use of various measuring instruments.
And for its twelfth year, the Geodetic Engineering Student Conference will re-emerge online for the first time with the theme “Burgeon: Emergence of Geodetic Engineering and Science in the 21st Century”.
GESC 2021 will introduce young aspiring Geodetic Engineers to the various opportunities waiting for them once they have completed their undergraduate degree. This year’s GESC will feature professionals from the Academe, Government, and Entrepreneurship.
