Give your Mental Health the attention it deserves

By Aileen Clare Ong

It’s already been more than a year since the pandemic has started. But many are still struggling to maintain good mental health due to the endless aggravation of the pandemic. Thankfully, there are many ways we can cope, and one of them is listening to music. The soothing sounds from string instruments calms the mind and the slow tempo releases dopamine in the listener’s body which improves mood, and reduces stress. Other benefits of listening to music include higher emotional intelligence, reduced nervousness and lessened anxiety.

You can get these benefits too by attending Lasallian Youth Orchestra’s online performance. LYO, a DLSU organization full of talented instrumentalists, will be hosting Forte 2021: A Cloud Nine Musical Experience, which is a major production that will be showcasing various talents of chosen members. There will be individual soloists, group recitalists and even orchestral performances playing classical and modern music. Forte 2021 will be held online on September 10-11.
