‘Health TB: Aksyong Kalusugan’ edutainment series aims to educate, debunk myths around tuberculosis

Knowledge Channel, in partnership with the Philippine Tuberculosis Society Inc., introduces a new edutainment series titled “Health TB: Aksyong Kalusugan,” aiming to debunk myths surrounding tuberculosis. The show, featuring actress Mutya Orquia, is set to premiere on December 5th, airing every Tuesday at 4:00 PM.

The narrative revolves around a community gripped by rumors about TB, causing widespread panic. Through characters like Choleng, a perceptive local, Dadong, a committed health worker, and Tere, portrayed by Mutya, the series aims to dispel misconceptions and provide accurate information about TB’s causes within their barangay.

Executive Director Ronald Vergel De Dios of the Philippine Tuberculosis Society Inc. highlighted the importance of raising awareness and praised the partnership, stating, “Our mission is to debunk misconceptions on Tuberculosis. This partnership allows us to engage a wider audience through multimedia, offering insights into the causes, effects, and ways to achieve a TB-free environment.”

Recognizing the significance of inclusivity in health education, Knowledge Channel has integrated sign language interpretation into all episodes.

Edric Calma, Vice President and Director for Operations at KCFI, emphasized the show’s broader mission, stating, “Health TB: Aksyong Kalusugan” goes beyond a mere TV program. It’s a vessel of hope and education, blending storytelling with health education urgency.”

The series aims to educate viewers about the implications and prevention of TB, inviting audiences to join Choleng, Dadong, and Tere on this informative journey.
