MANILA, Philippines – Global tech giant HONOR has reported a staggering 200% sales growth in overseas markets this year, as revealed during the Fortune Global Forum 2023. The company’s commitment to human-centric innovations, particularly in foldable technology and eye care, has propelled its dominance in the global smartphone landscape.
At the Fortune Global Forum’s discussion titled “A New Intelligent World: What’s Next for Smart Devices,” Dr. Ray Guo, Chief Marketing Officer of HONOR Device Co. Ltd., emphasized the significance of human-centric innovations in shaping the future of smart devices. Guo highlighted the imminent mainstream adoption of foldables, on-device AI’s transformative potential, and the integration of human-centric technologies, such as eye comfort display technology, to enhance user-device interactions.
Addressing a prevalent concern highlighted by the World Health Organization (WHO) regarding global vision impairment, HONOR prioritized eye comfort display technology, investing over $140 million in display technology research and developing more than 500 display-related patents. The HONOR Magic V2, a foldable device, addresses historical pain points of portability, durability, and battery life, boasting a design as sleek as a regular flagship smartphone while offering an immersive foldable screen experience. Tested for endurance, the Magic V2 can endure at least 400,000 folds and incorporates silicon-carbon battery technology for prolonged usage.
Surpassing the significant milestone of manufacturing 1 million foldable devices from its factory, HONOR’s Magic V2 stands as the top-selling foldable in China, capturing 25% of the expanding foldable market as a single model, according to industry analysis firm Omdia. This achievement not only showcases HONOR’s market dominance but also signifies the maturation of the industry’s supply chain, marking a shift towards automated and efficient manufacturing processes.
In its commitment to artificial intelligence, HONOR has made substantial investments, unveiling the integration of On-device LLM powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform in its upcoming HONOR Magic6 smartphone during the Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit. Emphasizing a hybrid AI model, HONOR aims to provide personalized content and services while safeguarding user privacy through on-device AI, keeping user data secure within the device.
HONOR’s strides in foldable technology, eye comfort innovations, and AI integration signal a significant shift in the global smartphone landscape, cementing its position as a leader in the industry.
