As timely as today’s headlines, the local transport industry, particularly the two major taxi ride-hailing applications based overseas has been a-buzz on a recent acquisition and the barrage of complaints on and offline line regarding steep cab rates.
Someone from the local scene has gotten into the picture and finally, a truly Pinoy-made ride-sharing service application, has taken a bold step to “hype” up a solution to the situation.
The application of Hype Transport Systems, Inc. as one the newest transport network companies (TNCs) in the country to service its own kababayan riding public was recently approved and accredited last April 18, 2018 by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).
Undersigned by LTFRB Chairman Atty. Martin Delgra III and Board Members Engr. Ronaldo Corpuz and Atty. Aileen Lourdes Lizada, the Certificate of Accreditation with Accreditation No. 2018-TNC-001, was awarded to Hype that will be effective for two (2) years from the date of approval.
Us bloggers were privileged to meet upclose ride-hailing app (from Left to Right) Hype Pilipinas' CTO John Codorniz Jr., President and CEO Mr. Nicanor "Nick" Escalante, and COO Ms.Jennifer Silan during a blogger's conference held at Max's Restaurant, in Quezon Memorial Circle, QC.
So called the latest "kid" on the block...Hype aims to provide with an easier and better alternative in terms of service rates among others.
Hype’s base fare is P40 with additional charge of P14 per kilometer for their Sedan cars.
Meanwhile, P30 will be the base fare for carpooling service with an additional P9.50 per kilometer rate.
“We don’t have per minute [rate] and no hidden charges,” said Nick Escalante, Hype’s President and CEO.
Students, senior citizens and persons with disability (PWD) will automatically get discounted fares. Passengers can book a ride even without internet connection but by simply using SMS or text messaging applications. According to CTO John, the Hype app also has an “SOS” button feature that drivers and passengers may use in times of emergencies.
“Hype” can accommodate up to 65,000 transport network vehicle service (TNVS) drivers as approved by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) It vows to implement a “one-strike policy” apprehension among its drivers in the event of violations.
Mr. Escalante also emphasized that Hype will only earn from 20% to 5% from their drivers. Meaning, the more trips a driver makes, the lower commission the company gets. So it's more take home pay for hardworking accredited drivers.
The “Hype” app can be downloaded beginning May 19 while its operations will officially start on May 26 simultaneous a major sponsorship Hype will have on top rating noontime show, Eat Bulaga to introduce their app and entry to the ride-hailing scene.
“Hype” is just one of the new TNC players in the country along with Golag, Hirna, Micab, Owto and U-Hop.
One of the media guests, asked why the company was named HYPE?
According to COO Ms. Jenny, "Hype" also stands for Honest...Young...Professional and Empowering people which is also the company's main Core Values. Very interesting isn't it?
We also heard the company jingle AD for the first time and it sounded just like the theme song of Tom Cruise's Top Gun film. Very rock and rugged!
Hype has committed itself to provide comfortable, affordable, transparent, consumer-friendly service, likewise, profitable for TNVS operators and/or drivers to fairly compete with other TNCs and duly abide what is mandated by the law to protect both the commuting public and the operators and/or drivers’ rights; not to mention, Hype’s commitment in loving our own.
A grand launch will be held at SMX Convention Center on May 27, the very same day Hype also introduces its official "Kapamilya" celebrity endorser.
