MANILA, Philippines (Apr. 2026) — For Pinoys who spent time and money earning an IELTS or PTE score, that credential can now do more than sit on a resume.
Jobstreet by SEEK has added English proficiency verification to SEEK Pass, its digital career passport, through new partnerships with IELTS provider IDP and Pearson, which administers the Pearson Test of English (PTE). The feature is live across eight markets including the Philippines, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, New Zealand, and Thailand.
Once verified, IELTS and PTE scores appear directly on candidate profiles and job applications across SEEK, Jobstreet, and Jobsdb — visible to any employer on the platform.
Why it matters for Pinoy job seekers
English proficiency is already a deciding factor in hiring for BPO, customer service, hospitality, and multinational roles — industries that employ millions of Pinoys. The problem has always been that test scores lived in PDFs or scanned certificates that employers couldn’t easily verify. SEEK Pass addresses that by attaching a verified, tamper-proof credential to a candidate’s digital profile.
SEEK Pass currently serves over 4.5 million job seekers across the Asia Pacific. Verified applicants in Australia and New Zealand are 20% more likely to be shortlisted by employers, according to SEEK’s own data. The platform launched in Asia a year ago and has since seen growing adoption on Jobstreet and Jobsdb.
“English proficiency is one of the most in-demand skills across our markets, particularly in Asia, where language skills are often a deciding factor in hiring,” said Xavier Russo, General Manager of SEEK Pass.
Beyond English proficiency, SEEK Pass already supports verification of identity, working rights, education history, employment history, and industry-specific licenses and credentials.
SEEK says it plans to expand English proficiency verification to additional test providers in the future.
