CEBU, Philippines – Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) has unveiled two monumental art installations by National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts, Kidlat Tahimik. Revealed on November 25, 2024, at Terminal 2, The Galleon and The Trojan Horse serve as tributes to Filipino history and identity.

The initiative is part of MCIA’s vision to become a world-class tourism and cultural hub. Athanasios Titonis, CEO of Aboitiz InfraCapital GMR Megawide Cebu Airport Corporation, emphasized the transformative role of art in enhancing the travel experience, highlighting the installations’ dedication to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) under the “Ceb Balik” program.

“The airport is a place of connection and cultural interaction,” Titonis said. “These masterpieces by Kidlat Tahimik pay homage to our OFWs while immersing travelers in the rich history of the Philippines.”

In Terminal 1’s Grand Lobby, two more works by Tahimik – Galleon Des Frayles and Bulakna Conquers Magellan – celebrate indigenous resilience and key moments in Philippine history.
