TV5 newsman Lourd de Veyra took to social media his grievance against GMA7 Public affairs which he accused of copying News5’s election campaign “Bayaw” or Bagong Alyansa Ayaw sa Walang Hiya, a traditional politician played by Jun Sabayton.
In his Facebook post he said “Dear big news network na hindi News5, Mas mataas na nga ratings niyo, ang laki naman ng budget ninyo, mas malalaki ang sahod niyo, at mas marami kayong tao. Konting originality naman. Grabe na nga kayo maka-delihensiya sa ads. Mukhang namimihasa na kayo e. ‘Wag naman pong garapalan. #BayawTheOriginal”
Lourd reiterated that why the network doesn’t used its resources such as high ratings, big budget, high salary and big manpower, to produce original content. In his post he emphasized the originality of “Bayaw.”
Despite not specifying a network, netizens hinted that the academician turned news personality pertains to GMA7 Public Affairs that uploaded a teaser video of their election campaign. The election campaign features traditional politicians Gov. Gary Palan, Mayor Delly N. Sha at Cong. Mimi Hasa, all portrayed by comedian Michael V.
The full video of GMA’s election campaign will premier on January 15, 2016.
GMA 7 hasn’t released a statement yet.
Is this co-incidence or GMA7 really copied TV5’s Bayaw concept? Comment your thoughts.
