MANILA, Philippines – Maegan Aguilar, the daughter of Filipino musician Freddie Aguilar, suffered injuries which brought her to the hospital on Saturday morning, November 8.
According to a Facebook post by her “bestfriend” Maria Silorio, Maegan received a nasty beating as a “parting gift” from her live-in partner Ali (Alexander Sanchez) when she tried to end their relationship.
Apparently, Ali forced his way into Aguilar’s condominium at 2:45am where he beat up and threatened Maegan’s life. Maria adds that Maegan Aguilar got thrown by “kuya Ali” resulting in bruises to the back and hips, and possibly a dislocated right arm.
The post included photos which show Maegan Aguilar wearing a neck brace and sitting on a stretcher while being unloaded from an ambulance by an emergency medical team. Other shots show her talking to medical personnel inside what looks like a hospital.
Maria writes:
My Bestfriend Maegan Comet Aguilar recieved this nasty beating as a “parting gift” from her live-in Partner when she firmly tried to end there relationship today. Ali’s an alcoholic that often reaches a violent black out state & beats up my friend & thhreatens her life.
“Hindi daw po agad2 nagpa blotter or nagsumbong c ate maegan sa brgy o pulis dahil ayaw nya pong lumabas itong parte ng buhay nya sa publiko. Pero ito pong huling insidente ay nagdulot po talaga ng kritikal na kalagayan sa kanya. Sa ngayon po mukhang dislocated ang right arm ni ate maegan at kitang kita din po na lamog sa bugbog at pasa ang likod at hips nya dahil sa pagtilapon sa kanya ni kuya
ali ng magpumilit itong umuwi sa condo ni ate kaninang 2:45am.”
Maria described Maegan Aguilar’s spurned live-in partner Ali as an alcoholic who often reaches a violent black-out state.
She also responded to criticisms that the incident was fake or malicious, crying she (Maegan Aguilar) does not have time to make issues or spin fake stories, and that all will be revealed when she (Maegan Aguilar) gets an interview on television:
Madami na ko na basang comment against Maegan Aguilar kesho wala namang pasa o wala namang nabali sa katawan nya,look guys ano ba gusto nyong makita yung nasa kabaong na si ate Megs bago kayo maniwala? actually wala kong paki sa nararamdaman nyo pero dahil friend ko yung nababastos sa mga comment nyo aba magrereact ako diba,family na trato sakin ni ate megs so dapat lang na ipagtangol ko sya unang una saksi ako sa pagsisikap ni ate megs para bumangon.Wala syang oras na magaksaya ng panahon para lang gumawa ng issue or gumawa ng mga kwentong Boka.Malalaman nyo din lahat pag nainterview na on TV.

Maria also appealed to the public to support Maegan Aguilar on Sunday evening, telling online bashers to not make a joke out of the tragic incident.
She also called out Gabriela members and officers to support victims of domestic violence like Maegan, who got battered by boyfriends, husbands, and live-in partners.

Maegan Aguilar is the frontwoman and lead vocalist of Glass Cherry Breakers, an all-star band that won the 3rd Philippine Blues Competition in October 2014 held by The Philippine Blues Society. They are set to head for Memphis, Tennessee on January 2015 to compete in the 31st International Blues Challenge (IBC), sponsored by the Blues Foundation.
