Magic: The Gathering Final Fantasy launched in PH

MANILA, Philippines (June 2025) – Filipino gamers will get their hands on an epic crossover as Magic: The Gathering teams up with Final Fantasy for what could be the biggest trading card collaboration in gaming history.

Wizards of the Coast announced that Magic: The Gathering—FINAL FANTASY will hit stores worldwide on June 13, featuring over 100 legendary creature cards spanning every mainline Final Fantasy game. The set marks the largest collection of Final Fantasy artwork ever assembled in a single game.

Philippine players get special treatment with exclusive events at SM City North EDSA on June 21-22. The weekend celebration will run from 10am to 10pm, offering everything from beginner-friendly sessions to hardcore Commander tournaments.

“This is a dream collaboration where gaming memories meet strategic card play,” said a press release obtained by our editors. The set showcases beloved characters like Vivi, Kain, Chocobos, and Moogles alongside iconic summons like Leviathan.

Two legendary Final Fantasy artists contributed exclusive borderless cards. Toshiyuki Itahana illustrated Vivi Ornitier, while Toshitaka Matsuda created artwork for Kain, Traitorous Dragoon. Both cards are designed as display-worthy art pieces.

The Philippine event promises “Multiplayer Commander ULTIMA,” a special casual format alongside standard competitive play. New players can join learn-to-play sessions while veterans battle in sealed and commander events.

Southeast Asian players, including those in the Philippines, can participate in Chocobo Racing Events from June 13 to July 24. Winners earn exclusive AR pins, posters, and metal tokens inspired by Final Fantasy VII’s mini-game.

Magic: The Gathering boasts over 50 million players worldwide, making it the world’s first strategic trading card game. The collaboration brings Final Fantasy’s 30-plus year legacy into Magic’s strategic gameplay framework.

The set introduces Magic’s first-ever “Saga Creature” card type with Summon: Leviathan, promising board-clearing tsunami effects. Classic Final Fantasy scenes appear on special “Through the Ages” cards, merging nostalgia with competitive play.

Commander decks featuring Final Fantasy VI, VII, X, and XIV storylines are available in standard and collector’s editions. Both versions let players experience these iconic narratives through Magic’s gameplay mechanics.

Visit your local game store or check Magic’s official website to secure your preorder and join the ultimate gaming crossover.
