Boxing superstar and Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao has confirmed his plan to run for senator under the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) in the 2016 elections.

“There’s a big possibility that I will run for Senate. UNA has asked me to join its slate, and I’m grateful for that,” he says in “Tapatan Ni Tunying” airing this Thursday (July 31).

Meanwhile, Manny is set to defend his WBO welterweight title against younger and undefeated American fighter Christopher Mark Algieri in November. At 35, Manny says he is not scared of going against younger opponents.

After his WBO welterweight title fight, he expects to fight in four matches before officially retiring in 2016 in time for the next national elections, adding that he still hopes to face American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the ring. Manny shares he had a phone conversation with Mayweather to iron out the details of a possible fight, but the deal still fell through.

In the interview, Manny also reveals to Anthony “Tunying” Taberna that his mother Dionisia has a boyfriend. He also shares some revelations about his personal life in the episode.
