Are you in the look out for foodie greats? An eat-all-you-can aka buffet adventure that won’t make your wallet cry?
If you happen to be in the heart of Manila, the Marcelino Cafe is the very place to be!
Located along San Marcelino near corner Kalaw Sts., this buffet place is right at the lobby of the Manila Prince Hotel, a cool hotel co-managed and owned by the Grand Dame, the Manila Hotel.
I wished I was able to arrive 530pm for my dinner time food sampling upon kind invitation from an awesome friend in the blogging community. But being invited is already such great thought so I quickly grabbed my big plate and began hopping from one food station to another. I intentionally skipped lunch so there would be more than enough space in my tummy for the incoming delights, haha!
If you haven’t known yet, Marcelino Cafe is offering a slash down of it’s lunch and dinner buffet from P1,500 to only P899/net per pax. Such a hard to resist deal on an extensive range of dishes and food to offer buffet lovers like you and me.
Starting from the very corner of the room, are the Italian and Carving Stations. They were serving Lechon that evening. From experience, we noticed that the succulent meats from this station is a blockbuster in buffets.
Also in the same area were fried favorites like Pork Katsu, Lumpiang Shanghai, variations of Sweet Potato Tempura, Ebi Tempura, Eggplant Tempura, and Okoy.
Would you believe they also serve Street Food faves Kwek Kwek, Kikiam and Chicken Balls! Woow! it’s my first time discovering that in a buffet place, so kudos Marcelino Cafe!
Over at the Halal section is my all time favorite Chicken Satay skewers among others which I can finish up to five or six sticks if I wanted to! Haha!
Upon checking the Filipino Station, I felt the Bicol Express tried to tease me for a sampling. And I’m glad to also have it for dinner. It was also interesting to see Buffalo Wings and it’s spice was just right to my taste.
The dimsums and siomai’s over at the Chinese Station were blockbusters and they get easily picked sold out by the patrons and customers. So I personally chose to sample Cabbage with Pork Slice Peppercorn and my other all-time fave Sweet and Sour dish.
We were told that the buffet place is extended even outside of the main dining hall. Which was a really swell idea so that more stations can be accommodated like that of the Japanese, Korean Stations. Salad Bar and a plethora of sweets at the delectable Desserts area.
Even if I haven’t had my appetizers and main course, I couldn’t help but already sample some fave desserts by the Chocolate Fondue and grabbed some irresistible chocolate barks.
Very seldom to rare a buffet place would serve Ginataang Munggo for dinner! Hopefully upon my return next time I will feast on Ginataang Bilo Bilo, one of my local delicacy faves!
Very creative!
A secret to not feeling full rightaway is to avoid gulping too much drinks, at least that’s what my Mom advised me to do a long time ago. Water sips are okay along the way. Speaking of drinks, the mango and orange juices tasted really well! Coffee is also available while nibbling on some desserts.
They say that for one to have a successful gastronomic adventure at any buffet is to eat with moderation and so not to waste too much food. That’s the reason for left over charges. Food is so precious to waste.
The menu is also changed and rotates on a daily basis to ensure more yummy food options and keeps the customers from guessing what they will have to savor for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Speaking of breakfast, yes Marcelino Cafe serves it for only P550 from 6 to 10am.
Another HUGE KUDOS and more claps to the cafe!
We obviously reached up to dinner closing time 10pm while enjoying the variety of global foodie greats of Marcelino Cafe and personal catch up stories from my cool friends.
Exploring the tasty and global dishes of a buffet place need not be done on a rush. Take time to savor the foods while enjoying the company of family, friends, colleagues or by just observing how fellow diners enjoy their time at the warm and cozy Marcelino Cafe where the staff will treat you well.
Will be back again for sure! Got to taste that succulent and mouth-watering lechon which reminds me of Cebu.
