The stakes are getting higher for the 63 teen singing aspirants as coaches Martin Nievera, Bamboo, and KZ Tandingan pit their best artists in a series of knockout showdowns to determine their top eight talents moving on a step closer to the gold in ‘The Battles’ round of “The Voice Teens Philippines” Season 3.
The blind auditions capped off last April 6, with MarTeam, Kamp Kawayan, and Team Supreme each completing their 21-teen roster and advancing to the Battle rounds.
The next round of the competition commenced in its Sunday episode (April 7), with MarTeam’s Colline Salazar (15 y.o) of Las Piñas City opening ‘The Battles’ round with a win against teammates Elisha Blair Depaula and Andrea Julian after their rendition of the ’70s bop song “I’m in the Mood for Dancing.”
16-year-old Hargie Valirose Ganza of Calamba, Laguna also bested co-Team Supreme bets Arvery Love Lagoring and Jocelle Bawiga following her resounding performance of Morissette’s “Phoenix.” Meanwhile, another Laguna native, Maelynn Rapista (17 y.o.) of Cabuyao, becomes the first teen artist to book a spot in the next round for Kamp Kawayan after standing out in their trio act of IV of Spades’ hit “Mundo.”
A surprising turn of events happened during the clash of MarTeam’s next set of teen artists, with KZ pushing the steal button to secure Thor Valiente (17 y.o.) a spot for the next round under Team Supreme following Martin’s choosing of Bulacan native, Oxy Dolorito (13 y.o.), to advance.
Also advancing to the next round is KZ’s Brianne Caraig (16 y.o.) of La Union—confirming the first three of eight artists for Team Supreme. MarTeam already has two artists moving up with Colline and Oxy, while Kamp Kawayan has filled in one spot with Maelynn.
