MANILA, Philippines (Mar 2025) — MediaTek has unveiled its latest AI-driven IoT platforms, the Genio 720 and Genio 520, designed to power generative AI applications across smart home, retail, industrial, and commercial devices. These new processors deliver advanced edge computing capabilities, enabling faster on-device AI processing while maintaining power efficiency.
Built on a 6nm process, the Genio 720 and Genio 520 feature an octa-core CPU with two high-performance Arm Cortex-A78 cores and six power-efficient Cortex-A55 cores. With MediaTek’s 8th-generation Neural Processing Unit (NPU), these platforms provide up to 10 TOPS of AI performance, accelerating transformer and convolutional neural network (CNN) models. They support up to 16GB of LPDDR5 memory, making them ideal for running large language models (LLMs) like Llama, Gemini, Phi, and DeepSeek.

These IoT platforms are optimized for low-power usage, making them suitable for battery-powered and fanless devices. Their robust multimedia capabilities support single 4K/5K ultrawide displays or dual 2.5K screens, 4K H.264/H.265 video encoding and decoding, and multiple high-resolution camera configurations. They also feature integrated MediaTek Wi-Fi 6/6E solutions and support for Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap via external modules.
For system expansion, the Genio 720 and 520 offer a flexible set of high-speed I/O interfaces and a rich selection of display outputs. They also support Android, Yocto Linux, and Ubuntu OS, ensuring compatibility across different applications. Developers can further benefit from Open Standard Module (OSM) reference designs, which help reduce development cycles and accelerate time-to-market.
