PHILIPPINES – Metro Pacific Tollways South (MPT South), a key subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), is bracing for a significant increase in vehicular traffic on the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX), including its C5 Link, and the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) as the holiday season approaches.
Anticipating a traffic rise from the third week of December 2023 through to the end of the month, MPT South expects a 15-20% surge in traffic on CAVITEX, mainly from motorists traveling from Cavite to Manila. The daily traffic count is projected to reach 208,000 vehicles, a notable increase from the current 181,000.
For CALAX, a more substantial 35% increase is forecasted, potentially elevating the traffic count to 47,000 vehicles, up from the previous year’s 35,000. This surge is largely due to travelers from Manila heading to Tagaytay and other areas via the Silang (Aguinaldo) Interchange.
To manage this influx, MPT South will activate ‘high-alert’ status and implement its “Safe Trip Mo, Sagot Ko” motorist assistance program. This program, operational during peak holiday times, will bolster services such as traffic management, toll collection, emergency medical services, and incident response. Motorist assistance will be available via Customer Service Centers, a 24/7 Customer Care Hotline at 1-35000, and social media channels.
Additionally, as part of this program, free towing for CLASS 1 vehicles to the nearest exit will be offered during designated times.
MPT South’s President and General Manager, Mr. Raul Ignacio, advises motorists to plan their trips carefully and to utilize the Easytrip RFID for quicker toll transactions. He also highlights the MPTC’s Happy Holideals promo, where users of the MPT DriveHub app, which offers a range of Easytrip and CCLEX RFID services, can win various prizes, including brand-new Chevrolet Tracker LS, and cash prizes.
Finally, the article underscores MPTC’s status as the largest toll road developer and operator in the Philippines, with a portfolio that includes NLEX, the NLEX Connector Road, SCTEX, and CCLEX.
This proactive approach by MPT South aims to ensure a smooth and safe travel experience for motorists during the busy holiday season, reflecting the company’s commitment to efficient traffic management and customer service.
